Where does it come from?

From the North American continent. In traditional Native American medicine, this plant serves as an "antibiotic" remedy for wounds, infections, insect bites, snake bites. Masking its root calm toothache and throat. Its name, derived from the Greek echinos, means "hedgehog", in reference to the flower heads. There are several species. The most used is purple echinacea.

For whom?

Facing an ENT, respiratory or digestive viral episode (influenza, gastro, viral angina), antibiotics being ineffective. For those who, in winter, accumulate repeated infections, undermining the immune system. Children (from the first months) and seniors with reduced immunity.

What does it contain?

Two major active ingredients: alkylamides, which act as a natural shield, and polysaccharides, related to the production of antibodies stimulating immunity. It also contains phenolic compounds, long chain fatty acids and a specific essential oil.

What are its benefits?

Its action is preventive and curative. Antibacterial and antiviral, it protects against respiratory infections viral (angina, flu, cold or nasopharyngitis) or bacterial infections (angina, sinusitis, bronchitis). In case of infection, it reduces inflammation and stimulates immunity. It is also interesting in cases of gastroenteritis, and is also antifungal (candidiasis) and anticolibacillary (cystitis).

Contraindications?

In people with autoimmune diseases (rheumatoid arthritis).

In which form?

In prevention, echinacea is taken in cure, interspersed with breaks. It exists as a fresh plant fluid extract 1 . In prevention: 5 ml, 5 days out of 7 during 6 to 8 weeks. In curative, increase the doses: 10 ml, 3 times a day. And also in capsules or tablets 2 . Preventive: 2 per day, 4 days out of 7 for 1 month. In curative: 6 to 8 per day during the duration of the infection.
